About Sarah Foster, LM CPM, MA-MCHS
Sarah Foster is a Licensed Midwife (LM), Certified Professional Midwife (CPM), and founder of Balance Birth Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. With more than twenty years of experience supporting families through pregnancy and birth, she brings a rare combination of clinical expertise, academic depth, and systemic vision to her teaching.
Sarah holds a Master’s degree in Maternal–Child Health Systems from Bastyr University and has taught multiple graduate-level midwifery courses, including clinical seminars, pharmacology, and the business of midwifery. She is also the creator of specialized trainings such as Pharmacology for Midwives, the Advanced Suturing Workshop, and many versions of “skills & drills” programs designed to prepare midwives and students for the realities of practice.
Her leadership extends well beyond the classroom. Sarah has served in statewide and national midwifery organizations, advocating for legislation and policies that expand access to midwifery care. Her reputation for combining rigorous standards with a deep respect for the art of birth has made her a trusted mentor for midwives at every stage of their journey.
